The main objective of the 'Our Creations Arts & Crafts Home' project is to create a home for the artists and crafters of the island, in the region of Colebay, where they can display their items, provide classes and workshops and sell their unique handmade goods. The foundation engages with many seniors who play an active role in transferring their knowledge to the younger generation. The project also aims to keep these seniors active and involved while simultaneously providing an opportunity to generate additional income to supplement their often small pensions.
Our Creations, St. Maarten Arts and Crafts Foundation was founded in 1990 with the aim to promote arts and crafts on St. Maarten. The foundation has organized different events over the years from within their store in Front Street(Philipsburg), where artists and crafters would meet to sell their locally handmade items.
This location was however destroyed by hurricane Irma and a new space for Sint Maarten's local artists and cultural crafts was recently opened.
