About the Project

The aim of this project is the establishment of ‘Moko Jumbie Training and Culture’ in Sint Maarten. This is an avenue to alleviate Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) amongst the youth through reconnecting and educating them about African heritage. The project, co- financed by UNESCO,  comprises the following programs: Expansion of the existing stilt walking training in primary school’s after school programs, the continuation of the young professional community initiative program for young adults ages 13 to 27 with 2 extra weekly classes for beginners and the organization of community events and activities for public engagement.

About the Organization

The FYI Foundation (Funtopia Youth Initiative) takes the opportunity to engage the youth of St. Maarten and the islands within the Kingdom, through engaging and educational programming. The focus on cultural heritage is key to the betterment of our Youth.
