Community Resilience
A playground will be built in the Multi-functional recreational park in Middle region. R4CR will finance the infrastructure and installation of the playground equipment. The playground area will be used during school hours by the children of the adjacent Catholic school during school hours. After school, during the weekends and vacations , the children of the Middle Region Community will have free access to the facilities.
The maintenance and supervision will be organized by both the school board/management and the Middle Region Community Council.
The Foundation Catholic Education St. Maarten (FCES) has been collaborating with various other organizations – including the Community Council of Middle Region/Defiance, the Dutch Diaster Fund, SMDF/Red Cross and the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten – to construct a Multi-Functional
Recreational Park in Middle Region, adjacent to the Sister Marie Laurence Primary School. Besides a playground there is a new basketball court and hopefully soon a community garden area.
