New ‘Resources 4 Community Resilience’ (R4CR) project organizes information sessions for NGOs

R4CR is a recently signed project, financed under the Sint Maarten Recovery,Reconstruction and Resilience Trust Fund (SXM TF). R4CR aims to improve and strengthen the capacity of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on Sint Maarten in their efforts to support reconstruction and resilience activities at community level.

R4CR includes a Grant Scheme as a funding mechanism for community and social rehabilitation initiatives and focuses on the long term strengthening of these projects. In the next 4 years, R4CR will launch seven calls for proposals (grant application rounds) where local NGOs will be invited to submit project ideas which could be financed, provided that they meet a minimum set of criteria.

All non-profit organizations, such as the senior organizations, educational and youth related programs (daycares, after school, PTAs, school boards, youth),  social and faith based organizations, sports, culture & art NGOs, service clubs, volunteer initiatives, environmental &animal care organizations and community councils, are just a number of examples of organizations where the R4CR project team is looking forward to meeting them sharing all details of this four year project.

On Monday August 31st, Tuesday September 1st and Wednesday, September 2nd, face-to-face information sessions will be organized in the outside auditorium of St. Dominic High school. Respecting the COVID-19 safety measures, there will be a limited number of attendees allowed per session. Therefore advanced registration is required. The meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp and attendees need to wear a face mask. Registration for a maximum of two persons per organization can be made through the email info@R4CR.org. Participants need to submit their name(s), name of organization and preferred evening of attendance.

For those who are interested, but feel uncomfortable in attending a face-to-face session, there will be a virtual online zoom meeting on Thursday, September 3rd starting at 6:00 p.m.

During the information meetings, St. Maarten NGOs/ civil society organizations/non-profits will receive general background information on the project, the set of guidelines and how to apply for funding.

More information can be received through email info@R4CR.org, local TeamLeader Mr. Rolf Hunink per whatsapp/telephone at 580 3058, Capacity Strengthening&Training Manager Jose Sommers at 581 5050, and the new Facebook page R4CRSXM.
